Habitat Piles – Spring Series

March 17, 2022, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Here’s an opportunity to get outside, get active, and have a huge impact on the health of our local forests. We’re building habitat piles again – sign up below if you can help!

Did you know that dead wood provides more than 40% of habitat for forest wildlife? Helping the critters that live in our forests is as easy as stacking up logs and branches. A simple 10’x6′ pile made with a foundation of big logs, a big pile of branches, and a rooftop of light brush will act like an apartment building for birds, squirrels, salamanders and more. These biodiversity boosters play a huge role in supporting the health of our forests!

Learn more about how to build a habitat pile.

Don’t miss your chance to explore some of GPC’s lesser-known preserves, which are usually reserved for wildlife. This is a unique opportunity to venture out into some of our peninsula’s real wildernesses.

GPC will provide equipment and gloves. Bring warm layers, water, and snacks. Please note this work can be strenuous and requires the ability to navigate over uneven terrain.
