Fall Forest Fridays – Habitat Piles!
November 12, 2021, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Are you looking to meet new friends and get a workout in this beautiful fall weather? Join GPC in our Fall Forest series every Friday from 9 am to 12 pm starting November 5 through December 17! Sign up below if you would like to get outside and protect forest habitat!
Each Friday, we will build habitat piles using downed logs and branches. Habitat piles are approximately 10 feet wide by 6 feet tall, with the biggest logs at the bottom and lighter brush material at the top. It’s a lot of fun to pile up material! Learn more about how to build a habitat pile here: How to Build a Wildlife Habitat Pile – YouTube
Dead wood provides more than 40% of habitat for forest wildlife like salamanders, foxes, and birds. By creating a niche for these creatures, we provide them with shelter and forage and increase our forest biodiversity! This is a chance to access some of GPC’s protected landscapes that are ecologically sensitive and hard-to-reach.
We will be at different locations each Friday. Look for an event near you!
