GPC Legacy Member Highlight: Byron & Sara Kane

Byron and Sara Kane

The stillness and renewal that being in nature provides is so important for the well-being of each one of us. It’s reassuring to know that conservancies, like GPC, are here to see that not every forest and stream will face development and will be here — not just for us but for future generations to enjoy and to continue to care for and conserve.

Sara & Byron

Kingston residents Byron and Sara Kane have been members of Great Peninsula Conservancy for nearly two decades. At the end of the year they joined the Legacy Society by including GPC in their will. Now they can be certain that future generations on the peninsula will enjoy access to the green spaces they love. By submitting a legacy pledge form, they also activated a $1,000 donation that will directly support conservation work right now.

“Our primary connection to GPC is CONSERVATION! We moved here in the mid 80’s and have seen so much development of our beautiful green spaces that it’s frightening to think that the future generations will have no place to go to enjoy nature and reap the benefits of being in an unspoiled environment. The “greenness” and relative emptiness of the Kitsap Peninsula was the initial draw for us, and we’ve come to love and cherish this place we call our home. The stillness and renewal that being in nature provides is so important for the well-being of each one of us. It’s reassuring to know that conservancies, like GPC, are here to see that not every forest and stream will face development and will be here — not just for us but for future generations to enjoy and to continue to care for and conserve.

Supporting GPC is a priority for us, being able to join the Legacy Society is a wonderful way to continue this support after we are gone and is so easy to do. We hope others who feel as we do and want the conservation of our green spaces to continue well into the future will consider joining the Legacy Society.”

GPC’s Legacy Society Challenge activates a $1,000 match with each new pledge. Visit our website or contact Development Manager Katherine Tacke at katherine@greatpeninsula.org or (360) 373-3500 to learn more.
