Walk & Talk: Birds and Bogs!

March 23 , 10:00 am 12:00 pm

What: Birds and Bogs!

When: Saturday, March 23rd from 10:00am to 12:00pm

Where: Grovers Creek Preserve

Event Details:

Years ago, the Audubon Society contributed to GPC’s purchase of Grovers Creek Preserve with the intention of protecting marbled murrelet habitat. On Saturday, March 23rd from 10am-12pm, we will be joined by Kitsap Audubon, as we venture into that same forest, to see what we can find! Participants will have the opportunity to explore this lush, somewhat boggy(!), hidden gem. Bring your binoculars (or we can lend you a pair) and you might catch a glimpse of one of this ecosystem’s many inhabitants!

Recommendations:

  • Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate trail hiking footwear.
  • Like many of GPC’s preserves, there are no facilities at Grovers Creek Preserve. Please plan to use the restroom before arriving.
  • The total walking distance will be ~1.75 miles long. While some of the trail is wide and maintained, there will be portions that are moderately steep, uneven, or possibly slippery.
  • A small, easily carried camp chair may be handy for those who would like to stop and enjoy their surroundings.
  • Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Community Engagement Coordinator Gabriel Newton with any questions (gabriel@greatpeninsula.org).

We look forward to exploring with you!
