Tree Pulling: Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park

February 17, 2023 , 10:00 am 11:00 am

Are you interested in what goes on behind the scenes of a tree planting? Great Peninsula Conservancy, in partnership with the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, Hansville Greenway Association, and Kitsap County Parks, is relocating 1000 trees from Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park to Hansville Greenway West. Kitsap County Parks Department has generously donated 1000 trees to plant at Hansville Greenway West, but before we plant them, we need your help pulling them out of the ground!

A tree pulling event involves digging up trees that have been planted in the ground and packaging them in bags to transport to a new site. This is a unique opportunity to see where we get our trees from for tree plantings and get a sneak peak at a migrating tree!

Details:

  • Date: Friday, February 17th, 10am-11am
  • Location: We will be pulling trees out of the ground at Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park and will be meeting at the South parking lot. Find google maps directions here.
  • Weather: We are still in the rainy season! This event will happen rain or shine – all you will need to bring is yourself and whatever clothing you need to brave the elements. We will communicate with you prior to the event if adverse weather conditions are too prohibitive.
  • What you need: All you need to bring is yourself! Tools and materials will be provided.
