We are recruiting for the Newberry Woods Community Forest Advisory Team (CFAT)! The volunteer CFAT brings the community’s voice to Great Peninsula Conservancy’s (GPC) decision-making process for the community forest. CFAT members work with staff to assess and implement the goals and objectives that GPC and the community envision, including recreation, education, and ecological forest management and restoration.
The current CFAT has nine members and has collaborated with GPC staff to create a 5-year strategic plan and timeline for the Newberry Woods Community Forest. In the next two years, GPC will focus on invasive species management, recreation and access features, and outreach to central Kitsap communities for education and events.
We welcome any interested individuals to apply. We are especially looking for representation from the Suquamish Tribe, the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, the local business and artist community, wildlife ecologists, and the young adult community. Interested in joining the Newberry Woods CFAT? This informational packet explains everything you need to know.
All interested individuals can request an application by emailing Micaela Petrini, Stewardship Coordinator, at micaela@greatpeninsula.org. Applications close on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
