Today we celebrate Eagle Scout Tyler Godsey who bu Today we celebrate Eagle Scout Tyler Godsey who built not one, not two, but sixteen cedar nest boxes for GPC's preserves this summer! With habitat loss indicated as one of the primary threats to bird populations around the world, GPC knows that each protected acre represents a step in the right direction to ensure a future for our region’s birds and wildlife. We also acknowledge that the hard work of land management, stewardship, and habitat recovery is ongoing and dependent on volunteers like Tyler who reach out and ask “What can I do to help?” A more hopeful question does not exist!
Tyler and his friend Bryce Jensen (both wearing masks) were able to hang some of the nest boxes at the Curley Creek Tyner Preserve where we hope that the one and a quarter inch diameter entrances will support species such as the violet-green swallow, downy woodpecker, and Wilson's warbler that have been documented on the property by birding volunteers. We are so appreciative of Tyler’s efforts and his thoughtful approach to supporting his community’s wild places!
