In 2000, a group of visionary local leaders stepped up to preserve the natural beauty of the forests, streams, shorelines and community greenspaces of west Puget Sound. Today, Great Peninsula Conservancy (GPC) has become a trusted conservation leader and community name in our region.
On August 24, GPC celebrates a new era of success and growth by opening the doors to their new office on Kitsap Way in Bremerton. The public is invited to join the fun, tour the new office, enjoy snacks and light drinks.
“The new office marks a milestone of growth and success for conservation in our community. We’re excited to invite everyone out to have fun, connect with our staff, and learn more about what we do to protect the natural world in our region and how people can get involved,” said Nate Daniel, Executive Director.
GPC protects land by creating nature preserves, partnering with public agencies to create local parks, and by placing conservation easements on private land that help sustain family farms and forests through generations.
“GPC has come a long way since those early days of volunteer-led conservation. Over the years, GPC has played an instrumental role securing places like the Poulsbo Fish Park in Poulsbo, Banner Heritage Forest in Port Orchard and Misery Point in Seabeck for the enjoyment of all” says Paul Kundtz, Board President.
