GPC Legacy Member Highlight: Nate & Kim Daniel

Nate and Kim at the 2023 Conservation Celebration.

Great Peninsula Conservancy is excited to recognize our Legacy Society members, Nate and Kim Daniel of Bremerton. Nate of course is GPC’s Executive Director! Here’s what Nate had to say about his and Kim’s decision to join the Legacy Society:

“Nearly 20 years ago, Kim and I met while working at an environmental education center in the Piedmont region of north Georgia. The Appalachian foothills were new territory for us both, and we spent countless hours together exploring the mixed hardwood forests of those ancient mountains. We quickly discovered that we shared a deep love of the natural world and enjoyed nothing more than learning the secrets of the flora and fauna that surrounded us. That sense of curiosity and awe lead us to our current positions, me as executive director of GPC (four years now!), and Kim as youth and family supervisor at UW’s Botanic Gardens.

Kim and I continue to draw endless inspiration from nature and want to make sure the mystery and beauty of our forests and waters are here for future generations to enjoy. To that end, we’ve updated our wills to include GPC as a beneficiary. We take satisfaction in the knowledge that we will be doing our small part to protect the plants and animals that have given us so much joy in life, even after we are gone.”

Because of a generous gift made by our friend and GPC member, Kit Ellis, the next 14 legacy pledges submitted will immediately activate a $1,000 donation to support GPC’s operations. Please consider supporting GPC’s conservation mission through a legacy pledge today.

The Legacy Society at Great Peninsula Conservancy honors members who have included GPC in their estate planning to protect more forests, salmon streams, shorelines, and open space, forever. Fueled by a $20,000 match, GPC launched a Legacy Challenge to increase the impact of each legacy pledge received this year. When you submit a new legacy pledge, it will activate a $1,000 donation to support GPC’s upcoming conservation projects.
