Exploring Davis Family Farm

Just in time for September harvest, GPC members toured a working farm protected by GPC!

Visitors to the farm began their tour with a brief history lesson about the Davis Family from farmer Ken VanBuskirk , which included the opportunity to view old family photos that Ken had laid out for viewing. Senses were heightened with a tasting of the latest fruit and veg picked fresh from the farm that day along with some of the Davis Family specialty pickled items. The tasting didn’t end there as folks were able to enjoy fresh corn on the cob right out in the field!

The Davis Family is perhaps best known for supplying their beautiful flowers for local farmers markets and events, but they have also begun a small CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program with basket pick up right on the farm.

Stops around the farm included a visit to see the pigs and goats, and long, scenic walk down to see the salmon running through the Union river that hugs the edge of the property.

The visit to the farm was a great reminder of vast types of landscapes that GPC is helping to protect. Visit the Davis Family Farm website to find out more about their locally grown flowers and produce.
