Walk & Talk: Kids Day at Klingel-Bryan-Beard Wildlife Refuge
July 29, 2023 , 9:00 am – 11:00 am
In the winter of 2022, volunteers from across the region joined GPC in a massive effort to reforest the shorelines of the Union River Estuary with 5,000 native trees and shrubs. Since then, site stewards and researchers have been working together to collect data about tree survival, climate resilience, and the impacts of restoration on local wildlife.
Now, we invite you and your family to revisit the site to explore, play, and get some updates on this important restoration project! Use your “Nature Passport” to navigate through a variety of activities focused on wildlife research, community science, and preserve stewardship! We promise this family friendly Walk and Talk will have something for everyone to enjoy.
Where: Klingel-Bryan-Beard Wildlife Refuge
- Meet-up Location: We will be parking at the lot located at Beard’s Cove Park. This is an easy one to miss! Driving southwest on WA-300, you will want to keep your eyes out for a black chain link fence and a sign titled “Beard’s Cove Park” to the south of the road. This is where you will turn. If you drive past the Red Barn, you have gone too far.
- You’ll see a GPC event sign by the park entrance.
- If you have any trouble accessing the parking area, feel free to text or contact Education Coordinator Jaime Webb at jaime@greatpeninsula.org
