Walk and Talk: The History of Red Bluff

March 18, 2023 , 11:00 am 1:00 pm

Walk and Talk: The History of Red Bluff

Where: GPC’s Hahobas Shoreline Preserve (Mason County). Directions to this preserve will be provided via email after the attendee completes registration. Please RSVP!

What: Dr. Michael Pavel is a professor, author, artist, and Tradition Bearer of the South Salish Culture. Join GPC on March 18th from 11am-1pm to take a walk with Dr. Pavel as we explore the origins of the Hahobas placename in the Twana language (tuwaduq), and the legacy of land stewardship practiced by the Skokomish Tribe that continues to this day. Because history is best learned through story, Dr. Pavel will share some of his own and help guide a conversation about how our relationships to the landscapes we love are deeply informed by the sharing of narrative between families, friends, and generations. With this in mind, we ask that event attendees please come prepared to practice not only their abilities as engaged listeners, but also as generous storytellers.

This Walk and Talk was made possible by the Mason County Historic Preservation Commission
