GPC at the Kitsap Regional Library – Kingston

November 7, 2022 , 3:00 pm 5:00 pm

Many of GPC’s preserves in the North Kitsap region are former working timber lands that, in their retirement under GPC’s protection, now shelter wetlands, provide habitat for wildlife, and sequester atmospheric carbon as they mature. GPC’s staff work hard to consider the health of the whole forest when developing land management plans — as the old saying goes, “don’t miss the forest for the trees!” Some of our management prescriptions to improve forest health include felling or girdling trees in these overstocked, former agricultural forests. But, how can a felled tree support forest health?

On Monday, November 7th from 3-5pm, join us at the Kitsap Regional Library in Kingston (located in the Village Green Community Center) to hear a presentation from GPC Stewardship Manager Adrian Wolf about the “ins-and-outs” of GPC’s forest management strategies in North Kitsap as we work toward healthier, more biodiverse, and more climate resilient forests!
