Filucy Bay Preserve “Free the trees” Part 2!
October 19 , 10:00 am – 12:30 pm
Location: Filucy Bay Preserve, Key Peninsula
Join us for the second installment of the “Free the Trees” stewardship work party at Filucy Bay Preserve!
Our beautiful Filucy Bay Preserve spans 170 acres of shoreline and upland forest, providing essential habitats for wildlife like Coho salmon, cutthroat trout, and black bears. Thanks to a grant from the Recreation and Conservation Office’s Estuary and Salmon Restoration Program, we’ve planted 2,600 native trees and shrubs as part of our forest restoration efforts in the past year. Learn about our work to protect estuarine nearshore habitat for native species.
Now, we need your help to protect these young trees and ensure their survival by removing invasive species like blackberry, Scotch broom, and non-native grasses. Join us and make a difference in preserving our local ecosystem!
When: Saturday, October 19th, from 10:00am-12:30pm
Where: Filucy Bay Preserve, Key Peninsula
